About Us:

Hi, we’re Rob and Elise. We’ve done hundreds of song commissions for everyone from rugby teams to podcast themes to pets and birthdays and anniversaries and everything in between. We also teach songwriting to both kids and adults. Elise is a classically trained cellist and Special Education teacher. Rob is a songwriter and Adult Education teacher. We’re currently living in Minnesota.

How to Commission a Song

Have someone or something special that you want to celebrate? Let Box Cat write a song for that!

2. Let’s Get started

We’ll reply with a confirmation email and we can start chatting about your song.

Our fee is $200 total - $100 up front, and $100 upon completion.

(We can also do sliding scale if that’s too much for you.)

3. Delivery of Your Song

We’ll deliver your personalized custom song to you as an MP3, WAV, or whichever type of extension you prefer via email.

Tabs, sheetmusic, and tutorials are available upon request for an additional fee if you’d like to learn how to play your song.

"Second Chances" was a song commission for a couple's anniversary. Check out Elise’s amazing cello solo in this one!

“Bok Bok Rock” was a commission by a farm for their chickens. We’ve occasionally done stop motion animation videos for our clients like this one. If you’re interested in having a video made to accompany your song, just let us know!

“NERF GUN WAR!” was commissioned for the wedding of two scientists who fell in love during a nerf gun war.

“John Song!” was commissioned as a Christmas present for a baby boy named John who has a cat named Blanka. It was for our buddies Denny and Nicole. This was another simple stop motion animation video we made for a commission.

This was commissioned as a jingle for a burgeoning hot sauce company. Uncle Johnny’s will satisfy your heart’s desire!

“Sportz the Mouse” was commissioned by a couple with an inside joke about a mouse named Sportz. They wanted something written for their fictional mouse that sounded like a theme song for a children’s cartoon in which Sportz travels the world in search of adventure and sports.

"The Puppeteer" was a commission for a couple that details the true story of their first date, and how they fell in love during a taping of The Price is Right. It was recorded on my front porch in New Orleans; listen to those crickets! I liked the song so much that it later got professionally recorded (with the couple’s permission) with my country band The Trusty Snakes.

This song was commissioned as a Christmas present for a toddler that likes bags.  It's called…"I Like Bags!".
